Top ten wine farms that your kids will love
With Youth Day and a long weekend coming up in the month of June, I thought I’d share a handy list of wonderful wine farms that you can enjoy with the whole family.
In no particular order, here are a few of the coolest spots you can take your kids to and ensure an undisturbed wine tasting with the adults, while the kids play and consume copious amounts of delicious treats!
- PERDEBERG WINES is a lovely wine estate that the whole family will love! While you enjoy your wine tasting the kids can have endless amounts of fun in their garden play area. Enjoy their home-style menu with their award-winning selection of wines.
- TOKARA is located in the Simonsberg wine region - from the magnificent views, incredible sculptures, food & wine, and the awesome play area for the kids, you’re all spoilt for choice at this stunning wine farm. The Tokara Deli Cat is a relaxed space for mom & dad to enjoy while the kids entertain themselves on the jungle gym.
- RICKETY BRIDGE VINEYARDS - in the beautiful Franschhoek wine valley - offers a decadent Panna Cotta and Wine or a scrumptious Cheese and Wine pairing for the adults and for the little ones, a Kiddies Pairing which consists of an apple juice, Créme Soda and strawberry-flavoured milk, paired with Smarties, sour worms, and wine gums. We’d be tempted to order the kids’ pairing too!
- SKILPADVLEI with a myriad of fun activities, sweet pairings, an inside AND outside play area… We think this wine farm in Stellenbosch has got you covered, parents! So, sit back, relax and explore their collection of wines and wholesome, seasonal food. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you’re sure to find something to suit everyone’s taste on their extensive menu.
Did you know… the farm is named after the legendary colony of tortoises that were found in the vlei in the 1800s.
- LE POMMIER WINE ESTATE is another popular wine farm on the Helshoogte Pass just outside Stellenbosch. Here, they’ll keep your young ones happy with a sweetie pairing or pizza and juice pairing while the parents have a wine tasting with their Cape Malay inspired lunches.
- SPIER WINE FARM needs no introduction as it is a well-known and firm favourite with families. Kids can explore the wide, open spaces, run about on the green lawns of Spier and also join the grown-ups for a tasting with Spier’s Grape Juice Tasting. While enjoying their juices, they can also keep busy with an activity sheet that highlights the role insects play in the vineyards. Educational and fun!
